Itinerary

Arrival in Colombo

Arrive in Colombo and transfer to the Galle Face Hotel, facing the Indian Ocean. After settling in, join a guided evening colonial heritage walk through Colombo Fort, passing the Old Parliament, Dutch Hospital and colonial-era clock tower. Watch the sun dip below the horizon at the Galle Face Green promenade, then gather for a curated welcome dinner.

Dambulla Temple & Cultural Escape

Journey inland through rice paddies and rural villages to the heart of Sri Lanka’s Cultural Triangle. Stop at the Dambulla Cave Temple, home to five ancient caves housing over 150 gilded Buddha statues and exquisite ceiling frescoes dating to the 1st century BC. Continue to your heritage hotel overlooking a glimmering reservoir.

Sigiriya & Polonnaruwa

Climb Sigiriya, King Kashyapa’s 5th-century sky palace perched 200 metres above the jungle plain. View the Sigiriya frescoes and the famous mirror wall with ancient graffiti. In the afternoon, explore the medieval city of Polonnaruwa by bicycle, an immersive way to discover impressive stupas, royal bathing pools and carved stone temples in the golden afternoon light.

Cultural Triangle & Trincomalee

Drive east to the storied harbour city of Trincomalee. Check into a secluded beachfront jungle resort that combines barefoot luxury with pristine ocean frontage. Spend the afternoon at leisure, watching the sun set dramatically over the calm blue waters. A private beach dinner under a canopy of stars marks the perfect evening on this unspoiled coastline.

Temples, Coral & Beach

Visit the ancient Koneswaram Temple perched on Swami Rock, a sacred cliff-top Hindu temple with ocean views. Spend the late morning snorkelling at the crystal-clear coral gardens of Pigeon Island National Marine Park. Return to your resort for a leisurely afternoon, concluding with a private beach dining experience at sunset.

Trincomalee to Kandy

Depart the east coast and travel towards Kandy, the last royal capital of Sri Lanka. Check into a colonial-style boutique property. In the evening, visit the Temple of the Tooth Relic, where the golden-roofed pagoda houses the world’s most sacred Buddhist relic. The sound of traditional drums and the scent of incense create an unforgettable sensory experience.

Royal City at Leisure

Spend a full day immersed in Kandy’s rich cultural tapestry. Morning begins at the Royal Botanical Gardens at Peradeniya. Explore the city’s artisan workshops and vibrant local markets in the afternoon, discovering traditional crafts including brassware, batik, and precious gemstones. An optional classical Kandyan cultural dance performance rounds off the evening.

Ceylon Tea Trails

Wind through the scenic highlands into Hatton, the heart of Sri Lanka’s tea country, arriving at the iconic Ceylon Tea Trails bungalows set among rolling estates. Enjoy a guided tea estate experience, exploring colonial tea heritage while tasting fine single-origin brews. Later, unwind with a traditional high tea before a fireside dinner as mist drifts across the mountains.

Tea Country & Scenic Train

Rise at dawn for an excursion to Horton Plains National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage cloud forest. Trek to the World’s End escarpment, a sheer 870-metre cliff dropping into the lowland jungle far below. Return for a final highland meal before transferring to the railway station to board the celebrated scenic train to Ella.

Udawalawe & Cape Weligama

Visit the Nine Arch Bridge before departing for Udawalawe National Park, renowned for its large resident elephant herds. Enjoy a thrilling safari with expert guides who spot elephants, endemic water buffalo, and rich bird life across the vast reservoir plains. Continue to the south coast and check into the clifftop Cape Weligama resort with panoramic Indian Ocean views.

Galle Fort, Mirissa & Farewell

Spend a final morning at leisure before heading to Mirissa for a seasonal (November–April) whale-watching excursion. In the afternoon, enjoy a guided heritage walk through the atmospheric lanes of Galle Fort, exploring Dutch-colonial churches, ramparts, and boutique galleries. Gather at sunset for cocktails and a farewell dinner at your clifftop retreat.

Departure

Take a scenic morning coastal drive along the Southern Expressway back towards Colombo, with an optional stop at a beachside cafe for a final cup of celebrated Ceylon tea. Depending on your departure schedule, there may be time for a brief city stop or premium boutique shopping. Our team ensures you are transferred to the Airport in comfort and style.
